EPOXY RESIN HARDENERS

There is a choice of two hardeners available with the 16B10620 Epoxy Resin System. The choice of hardener is dependent on the application requirements, particularly the depth of pour.

66B10620 HARDENER A

This Epoxy Hardener is completely colourless. When used with the Tricel Composites 16B10620 Epoxy Resin, it can be used for castings up to 0.5cm with a cure time of 90 minutes. The mix ratio is 100:40 by weight. The combination of the base Epoxy Resin and Hardener A makes it ideal for lighter Epoxy coatings.

66B11620 HARDENER K

The Tricel Composites 66B11620 Hardener K, is also a homogeneous, clear, colourless liquid. When used with the Tricel Composites 16B10620 Epoxy Resin, it can be used for castings up to 100mm with a cure time of +24 hours. When used the base Epoxy Resin, this combination works extremely well for the preparation of so-called canyons, during casting or connection of wooden countertops.

APPLYING THE EPOXY CASTING RESIN AND HARDENER

Depending on the Hardener chosen, the mix ratio will differ. It is vital to ensure that the correct ratios are adhered to.

66B10620 Hardener A: 100:40 (40% hardener addition by weight)
66B11620 Hardener K: 100:30 (30% hardener addition by weight)

Air temperature and humidity when preparing, applying and hardening epoxy composition have a considerable influence on the quality and properties of the coating.

We recommend that the optimal operating air temperature is 20 °C (at least 18 °C) and relative humidity is a maximum of 60%. Increased humidity negatively affects the curing process. Pinholes may appear in the surface when it hardens, it may appear muddy or viscous.
